Bob Steiner’s Commission for The University of Auckland

2008 marks the celebration of the University of Auckland’s 125th Anniversary.
To mark this special occasion a commemorative gift,
designed by ceramic artist

Bob Steiner, was commissioned by the University to celebrate 125 years of
excellence and tradition.

The limited edition paper weight is Bob’s contemporary interpretation of
Roy Lippincott’s iconic Clock Tower.

The gift was presented to guests at the Distinguished Alumni Awards Annual
Dinner that was held on Friday, 7 March, 2008 in Auckland, New Zealand.

The gala event was held in a specially enlarged marquee erected on the lawn
at the Old Government House (part of the University Campus).
It drew a record 620 people.

These included politicians and leading figures in politics, education,
business, the professions, the media and the community at large,
as well as staff and alumni.
